Mary Queen of Scots. 1542-58. #sherborne There is a small cutThe Mary Queen of Scots bawbee was a billon (silver copper alloy) coin minted in Edinburgh between 1542 and 1567, valued at sixpence. It features a crowned thistle with "M R" (Maria Regina) and the legend MARIA DEI G R SCOTORVM. These, often roughly hammered, 22mm coins are notable for the saltire on the reverse Edinburgh mint. 1. 48g. 22mm. A little uneven at the edge but a nice example with good colour. Very fine
